Next-generation infrastructure for next-generation patient care

Description: Mobile health (mHealth) and telemedicine solutions, electronic health records (EHRs) and other technologies have massive potential to help large healthcare organizations control costs, increase access to services and improve the quality of care. Yet already these organizations’ technology infrastructures are under pressure to support thousands of employees, hundreds of sites and multiple data centers. This paper examines what healthcare IT needs to be fast enough for Big Data; agile enough for anywhere, anytime, any device access and rapid new-app rollouts; and secure enough to meet the industry’s strict regulatory, security and privacy requirements.
